I recently bought an Esterbrook desk pen with base and I really love writing with it. I also found a man locally who sells and repairs pens. I bought a second desk pen from him for only $8 and a nib for only $3.

Nice!
Those desk sets seem to be like bunny rabbits, I had one and then all of a sudden I have a whole bunch!

Congrats on the desk set, I just bought my first desk set a couple of months ago. I picked up a brand new 'accountants' set which is the double ink well and I then tracked down a red desk pen and a clear one to complete the set. There are a wonderful set on my desk here at work and get used frequently. I just got to find out which inks they seem to like. For the black I use Mont Blanc and it seems to wick up the pen on the collar and sludge's and dries up and makes for a messy writing pen to hold on to. For the red I use noodlers 'cayenne' and it works beautifully and doesn't seem to suffer from the wicking and sludging the Mont blanc does... oh well guess the next black will be some noodlers.
Congrats again!

I'm with Elaine on this one...I had one at the beginning of the month, I have now have four...not even sure how that happened. (Well I know, I just feel better if I deny it ever happened) "walks away from computer grumbling something about eBay"

Ummmm.... Not as many as I expected, but...
37? Including 3 doubles and 8 double dip-less. All unique except one single dip-less I have at the office.
Then there are the NON-esterbrook desk sets.

Best-
Brian
(actually I'm not really sure, I counted three times and got different results.

There are some double sets that I'd love to get my hands on but for now I decided to focus on the 444 sets and now have one of each color as well as having the red taper for the red glass holder. I have seem some unusual doubles ( one wooden with the 444 caps) that I can only imagine owning too.
And did I mention the original box and instructions I got with one set

All it was missing was the tissue paper to be sumgai NOS
They sit on a shelf since a 2 year old and desk pens don't really work well together

I got another one so I'd have one at home and one at work. I love the feel of them when I'm writing. I put Duke blue-black ink in the one at work and I'm very happy with the way it flows out of the pen in a nice dark line. Duke has a very elegant bottle.

I just received the last missing color in my 444 collection! GRAY. Yabba Dabba Dooo.
Since I haven't found that color in the wild, I broke down and grabbed one on eBay for $10 plus shipping.
Now........I must begin looking to complete two variants. There's the convex black plastic top and the later concave black plastic top. Not sure if the later colors are the same as the earlier colors. Anyone know for sure?

I don't know for sure, but I would be we could create our own informal poll. I've got green in the later design.

My suspicion would be they were available in all the same colors, but don't know for certain.
Best-
