I just broke my Eversharp skyline when trying to remove the section. The plastic shattered behind the section leaving quite a bit inside and only about 1-2 mm left on the section end. Can this be fixed by a professional and keep it original? The pen has a very large sentimental value to me.

I never was going to try and re-sac this pen myself... but I finally convinced myself to give it a go... and now i do this... sad.gif

It IS technically possible. IIRC Skylines were made from Styrene. There are aceto-acrylates that will weld polystyrene together, but they work fast and furious. I don;t know of anyone that will do it personally. What color Skyline is it?

its a very dark reddish brown.

heres a few pics (before it broke)

First pic is probably the closest color.

I've repaired a crack in a skyline barrel with what was essentially acetone. I would guess there might be some pros who could help.
Skyline barrels are notoriously brittle; I never remove or insert a section without benefit of heat (140 degrees F.) I learned that the hard way.

Good luck.

I AM NOT SURE IF IT CAN BE FIXED, BUT THAT IS ONLY KNOWN AFTER FIRST HAND INSPECTION. I HAVE A GOOD NUMBER OF BROWN AND MAROON SPARE BARRELS AND SECTIONS, SO IF YOU WANT TO SEND THE WHOLE BROKEN PEN TO ME EITHER IT WILL BE FIXED OR POSSIBLY REPLACED, OR NOT AT YOUR CHOICE.

Here is my crappy photography skills. I was trying to take them in a hurry and then the camera died. They're blurry, but at least you can see how close to the section this broke off.

I'm no repair expert, but I'd take Syd's offer and try to replace the barrel. I'm sure he can keep your original nib, cap etc.

I have a maroon Skyline almost exactly like yours that I recently purchased off ebay. What a beautiful pen and such a smooth nib. As you would expect, the sac needed replacing. The section was pretty much welded to the barrel. I'd read that these are fragile and even the pros break them. I shipped it to a restorer.

Good luck with your Skyline!

Thats a real shame Ryan, nice looking pens, got beauty of a Skyline myself recently, real purty, in great condition just missing its lever, so since you won't be needing your lever anymore eureka.gif
