Hello All,

I purchased a Senator Regent FP from Ebay that has dried red ink in the feed and the ink view section. This ink does not seem to clean up after repeated flushings. I am not sure if the dried ink is fountain pen ink or some other kind of ink. Any suggestions? Also, does anybody know if I can send the pen to Senator Pec Co for repairs and if so where?

Thanks

Hi Sharkfin,

Most Senator nibs unscrew, once they are out it is much easier to clean the feed and floss the nib. I am not sure if they are all supposed to be dismantled but some do come apart easily others not so easily.
Once the nib is out it is much easier to clean the ink view window(s) through the section aperture.

If the nib does not want to come out don't force it, fill the pen, if it will fill with a 10% solution of ammonia and water and put the front end of the pen in to soak overnight or for a couple of hours at least in the same 10% solution , the nib will unscrew with little force being used after several soaks and fills.

If the Ammonia soak does not remove the ink staining then it is possibly a non fountain pen ink in the pen, it is usually safe to use Kooh-i-noor/Rotring pen cleaner in these pens and the cleaner can shift Indian ink given a few hours soak to start it off but read the instructions on the bottle or box.

Best of luck with the cleaning the older Senators are nice writers.

Cheers, John
