Hi there - new guy on the list here. I have a Canadian Waterman Taperite (Crusader I think) with a cap that won't stay on. It appears to be missing a ring or liner at the mouth. Otherwise the pen is in good shape, and the section came off the barrel with no problems!

Any suggestions on how to fix the cap?

Thanks,
Steven

Welcome to FPN Steve,

Does the Waterman that you have an exposed nib rather than a hooded or semi hooded nib?
The reason I ask is that it seems that some models of the Taperite series had different designations in different markets, what is called the Citation in the US is imprinted as the 877 in UK made pens, in general I think that if the nib is an open type then it is a Crusader but someone will chime in with more detailed information and put me right if i am wrong I hope.

Which cap do you have, there are several different finishes and even a couple of different sizes in the Taperite series. I have a couple of Taperite caps but whether they will fit is a question.

A post in the Marketplace for a ' I want to buy a..... if anybody has one' sort of thing might produce a better outcome. Include the measurement across the mouth of the cap, the length of the cap and include a picture if you can and someone should likely be able to help you.

All the best with your search, Cheers, John

Thanks! It has a semi-hooded nib, I identified it as a Crusader from the photo on Richardspens.com - the cap appears to be aluminum alloy, and has the gold coloured bands. I was hoping there would be a way to replace the clutch, rather than the whole cap. Or is trying to make / improvise a new clutch a bad idea / waste of time?
