Hi there - newbie needing advice from the sages here at FPN!
I have two 400NN Pelikans - (A) one the nib unit unscrews just as it's designed to, (B ) the other comes out in pieces.
Pen A - This nib is misaligned in the unit - just off centre when viewed from the back. Is there a way for a home repairer (namely me) to pop the nib unit out of the collar and realign it?
Pen B - This one has a split collar on the nib unit so it will screw in and the nib and feed will friction fit in where they are supposed to, but where can I get a replacement collar?
Both pens - how do the piston's come out? I have heard they just push out but how much force is needed and should you just hold the barrel in one hand while pushing a knock out tap in with the other?
Many thanks!

Check your email.
I didn't see that you are in TO. I am just down the road in Waterloo, so I can probably help you out.
Cheers,

Thanks very much. It was mentioned that the nib with the split collar (or at least that's what I think it's called - the plastic band that goes around the nib and feed and holds them both together)had ended the life of the nib - can one not get a new band/collar? I was vaguely under the impression that one could...

Hi,
yes virtually impossible to get the collars. The good news is you can buy a modern nib and it will screw in with no problem. Be sure to get the right size.
IIRC the '200" series 14K nibs are correct size. Pick your nib width, you can even get stubs, italics etc. from various nibmeisters.
I suggest Richard Binder as one excellent source.

Let me know if you are interested in the vintage 400 nib and feed I have. It is a fine semi flex that would screw right in.
Cheers,
