I´m in a trouble... I can´t take a decission about:

1) Visconti Van Gogh

2) Stipula 22 (new nib)

3) Pelikan 400.

Could you reccomend me one? and why?

Thanks.

I can suggest Stipula 22. These days I am using a Stipula Vedo that has a steel nib but it is great and the look is very cool. I tested also my old style Stipula 22 Titanium B nib and it is wonderful too but because of the thickness I will use only for Holiday greetings. The ink tank is enough big and totally visible. The pens are very comfortable uncapped or posted.

Not knowing what pen you have so far, I am inclined to ask if you have any Pelikans. I am a Stipula fan and I have had only good experiences with the brand. But I find my Pelikans to be more efficient on start up and reliability. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the pens, but I myself am inclined toward the Pel.

I have owned all three brands.I like the Stipula Etruria the best out of the Stipula line,so i cannot comment on the 22.I own 4 Van Goghs and adore them all.I would choose the Visconti if pressed for whats listed.
Then again,opinions differ.

I have used all three, and I really like all three.
But, for the up front cost and the later dependability I would start with the Pelikan.

Without doubt the Visconti. I chose the Visconti Aida which is a limited edition of the Opera. But there again I am pro Italian design. Visconti's attention to detail is, in my humble oppinion unmatched by the other brands you favour

Visconti,

I owned at one point a pelikan 400, but the nib was stiffer then my van gogh. I bought a van gogh two months ago and I can't stop raving about this pen. It's the most gorgeous, beautiful to write with, smooth, WET pen I ever had.

Also, the diameter is bigger then the 400, so if you like bigger pen, go for a van gogh.

I have never tried Stipula, so I can't comment on this one.

Well, I should give you a pre-information about my pens at the moment:

1) Waterman Carene fine point... all day working.

2) Pilot Vanishing Point... all day working.

3) Sheaffer Snorkel Statesman ... resting in my desk.

4) Sheaffer Targa... resting in my desk.

5) Two Lamys (vista & safari) only work in my house with colours (green & red).

I understand that this information is needed to do a good election.

Thanks.

And I´m going to sell S. Targa and Snorkel.

They write very well but I need sell to collect some money for a new buy.

Regards,

Jorge.

I would go for a Van Gogh Maxi. You can't go wrong with this one - it's a great everyday pen and looks beautiful as well.

I agree with you... I only need a good dealer (online) who ask a reasonable price.

Could you help me in that search? I´m beginning the hunt...

Many thanks,

Jorge

If you want a reliable pen to use a lot, get something other than converters. A piston holds more ink and is less troublesome. Pelikans m400-600 are very light and true workhorses, but any of the other brands will do fine, if you like them more.

I also own the old style Stipula 22 with the titanium nib and like it a lot, and would like your opinion on how it compares in size and smoothness of the writing with the Stipula Vedo, which I have not been able to see in stores, only in pictures. What about the size of the two pens when they are posted--are they the same size or is the old style Stipula 22 longer and thicker than the Vedo? I ask because I am considering getting the Vedo. Thanks for your help.

Wow, this thread is 8 months old, I wonder what jorgerp1 settled on. Leaning towards the Van Gogh it seemed.

Go for the Van Gogh. It's a nicer pen that the others and writes very nicely.
