Full Version: What is a double hole nib for?

Does anyone know the point of having two breather holes in a nib? Was this pen in some danger of asphyxiating?

Is this a standard nib or a custom job?

This was a variant of standard one holed Pelikan 140 nib. I don't think there is a purpose behind it, other than maybe stiffening the tines if thinner gold is used?

Thanks Nenad, any idea what it writes like?

I have two regular 140's, both write great, with some flex to it... As Dillo says, this manifold nib will be stiffer, for writing over multiple forms and carbon paper.

cheers
