I am on a mailing list for a local estate sale company, but rarely go as the hours of the sale are often hard for me to get to them and are often out of my city. This week there was a sale quite close to my town, and three houses down from a friend so I got up early and went this morning. This estate sale company netted me a near mint PFM I a couple years back for the princely sum of a quarter. biggrin.gif

Anyway, went to the sale this morning, and managed to find one pen, what looks to be a Cross Classic Century (please correct me if I'm wrong):

I had to dig deep, the price was fifty cents. Oh, I almost forgot, because the sale was on it's last day, this was 75% off, so rounding up, I paid fifteen cents for it. biggrin.gif No converter, but I can live with that.

Nice looking pen, will go good with my father's cross century ball points. smile.gif Did I do ok? wink.gif

Whoa, lucky you!

Not a Cross person, but I will say my dad used Cross Century pens for as long as I could remember at one point. He had those thin silver ones in ball point. I'm not sure whether he had a fountain pen (he hates the things).

Yeah, my dad used plenty of slim ballpoints and pencils, mostly Cross Century and Parker. The only FP he had was a Sheaffer "dolphin" style desk pen that was given to him, so I can't say he picked it out himself.

I'm not much of a Cross person myself, but I do think they have their place, and I've been thinking of adding one to the collection recently. Now I've got a set. smile.gif

Brian, check the nib. If it doesn't push in and pull out easily, and if it doesn't rotate without difficulty, you've got a good one. I used one for years and loved it. Mine was a medium and was SO smooth. Enjoy yours!

Yep, rock solid, looks like it was used very little except for the bite marks on the end of the barrel. Looks like a nice smooth M nib too. I'll have to call up pendemonium and see if they have a converter or cartridges for it.

Thanks!

I have two converters that will work in your pen. This is not the newer orange converter w/ screw threads at bottom. This is the green one with a push-fit end.

Send me your address backchannel. I'll mail you a converter at no cost. Treat yourself to a nice bottle of ink. It's less expensive and more fun than cartridges.
