Quick question for you Pelikan experts. I saw a M650 on fleabay and the silver marking on it 925 peaked my interest. As I have a M625 and it is marked AG925, should not this one also have the AG? Cheers.

Hi there PelikanPenman,
I've taken a look at my M650 and M450 sets as well as my individual M650 and M450 fountain pens. All of the caps on the fountain pens are marked AG925. And the roller ball caps are marked 925. The M650 fountain pen caps are marked AG925 on the bottom part of the clear area where the engraving would go, and the the M650 roller ball caps have 925 on the bottom band.
The M450 fountain pens have AG925 on the bottom band and the M450 roller ball caps have 925 on the bottom band.
Both the M6500 and the M450 have 18 carat (18C-750) nibs.
It may be that someone just got the caps confused. You might also want to check your nibs to make certain that they aren't 14C-585.
This all being said, if you have just purchased the pens, and purchased them from a reputable dealer, I would suggest checking with ChartPak before questioning your friendly dealer. It is very possible that, in showing a customer a fountain pen/roller ball set, the caps got mixed up. There is no metallurgical difference between the 2 caps, just the difference in the placement of the numbers. That being said, if you have an M650 fountain pen and it has a 14C-585 nib on it, I would request the 18c-750 nib that is supposed to be on the fountain pen.
Peace
