I have never owned a Waterman before but am considering the Edson versus the Carere.Would appreciate opinions about these 2 pens.

I have a Carene, but do not have an Edson. The Carene is an amber shimmer color with a medium nib. Fit and finish is flawless. I would describe the nib as a true medium. It is wider than an Aurora medium and narrower than a Phileas or L'Etalon medium. The nib is very smooth with no skipping or starting problems. The nib is not the least expressive, the best tern being a nail. Based upon pictures, the Edson appears to be a larger pen than the Carene. The Carene is a fairly hefty pen with lacquer over brass construction. Overall. I like the pen, but do not love it. I prefer my Parker 100s to the Carene.

I have two "deluxe" model Carenes, and love using them. They've pushed thoughts of acquiring an Edson to the back burner.

The Carene is a nice pen. The Edson is a very nice pen.

The Carene offers 80% of what the Edson does. Buy the latter only if the remaining 20% is important to you.

I own both.

I have the Edson Silver LE. There is a special feel to this pen. It is highly reliable. I travel and value the fact that it is guaranteed to not leak with the change in atmospheric pressure. So far, it has not let me down. So, for me the 20% is the limited edition, plus the reliability of not leaking on me, plus the waranty.

Go for a Waterman Le Man 100, a far better pen than the Edson with a smoother and greater nib. My other pick would be the Exception but I find the Le Man 100 much better.

What can anyone tell me about the WatermanCF circa 1970?,the Taperite Citation no.877 and Waterman Ideal?Which if any of these pens are worth pursuing?
