I'm using a Pelikan M200 EF and I'm getting ready to purchase some Noodlers. How does the Polar Bear Black compare with the Black sold by Swisher pens?

Thanks all!

Not fond of any Noodlers ink. That said I have not used their black.

I have how ever just this very minute tried Swishers and it bleeds and feathers badly from a steel nib and not at all from a smooth gold nib.

I've not used the Swisher's. The Polar Black bled, feathered and spread for me. The regular Noodler's black (also eternal) works very well for me and behaves well even on some papers where other inks feather and bleed. Unless you really write outdoors in freezing weather, I don't see the point to Polar.

Swisher Midnight Black is my choice. Black as black can be, plus dries instantly which is a huge plus for me, a left-handed writer. No feathering issues except on poor quality paper (e.g. Moleskine). jhs

Well, my experience with Polar Black (to use the actual name -- last I checked, polar bears are white) has been completely the opposite of the previous comments. No feathering. No bleeding. No more spreading than with many other black inks I've used, and certainly acceptable. It is intensely black, which is my main reason for using it (we tend not to get sub-zero weather in Dallas). I do have what's left of a bottle of regular Noodler's Black, which I am perfectly satisfied with, but I may switch over to Polar Black permanently once the regular stuff is used up.

I haven't used Swisher's mix, so can't compare them.

I would concur with Bill. I use Polar Plack in a Pelikan 200 with an Italic and Crisp Italic Nib. It works very nicely in both. No feathering, no bleading. My only complaint is that it does not dry as quickly as I might like. That said I have used Pelikan, and waterman blacks and I prefer the Noodlers PB. I have not used Swishers.

I have also had good experience with Polar Black. It works well in a wide range of pens, and is tolerated as well as regular inks with the papers I use. I have no experience with Swishers.
