The Namiki Vanishing Point is quite a smooth writer. Its inexpensive 14K nib and C/C assembly make it unique, too. But, what if you wanted a fountain pen that uses that nib, but not that body? Has anyone ever heard of a standard "postable" fountain pen body that could take a VP nib? Custom pens would be okay, too. I'll bet that I'm not the only FPNer who would be interested in such a pen.

Not with the hardware currently available to custom pen makers...
Who ever did this would have to create a whole new hardware set up to take the nib assembly. Remember this nib assembly does not screw into the pen it is a friction fit.
The cost factor would be outrageous.
Basically, you would need to create a section that would accept the VP nib assembly and still be able to fit into the pen body.
As good as the VP nib is, there are a lot of pens out there today with nibs every bit as good or better.
Why take an inexpensive good writing pen and turn it into a one of a kind pen or at the very least a very limited edition pen that would probably cost in the neighbor hood of 8-10 times that a VP cost.

When you put it that way, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's too bad that Namiki hasn't done this themselves, or produced a threaded version of the VP nib. It's true that there are equivalent or better nibs out there; I think that if it weren't cost prohibitive, it would be a very cool product.

Write or email Namiki. Japanese corporations suffer much less from not-invented-here than others. The Casio "Atomic" G-Shocks (very tough watches that re-set themselves from atomic clock signals nightly, so they're never more than a fraction of a second out) were partly inspired by customer suggestions.

having not had the pleasure of handling one in person, i admit my opinion is only conjecture, but if the nib assembly is a friction fit, couldnt a ''tube'' [for lack of a better word] of likewise inner diameter to the VP body be fitted and the outside could be turned? it seems to me like a wooden one would be a fairly easy thing to accomplish for a skillfull wood worker, or even acrylic.
