Hi, all

Well, as I'm trapped here at my cousin's due to the ongoing faimly crisis and the damn snow here (we got 8" yesterday, mostly ice), I took a walk today to a thrift shop a few blocks away... a place I've been meaning to stop into. There was a large box of pens that yielded up almost nothing, except a few parts, and three Parkers that made the hour of sifting worth it... maybe. Let me describe them..

1) First is a Duofold Jr. in red/orange --- body in nice shape, decent imprint, light brassing on ring and cap. BUT ... the tip of the nib has been snapped off (the very tip), the end cap is missing, and the filling mechanism is jammed shut -- the button is depressed permanently, and looks a bit corroded -- but only a little bit...

2) Another small Duofold in white MOP, light brassing on rings, filling mechanism needs work, tip of nib is making a righthand turn. Imprint and body are very nice, slightly discolored.

3) A 5" vac in gray, body/imprint really nice, plunger retracts nicely, nib very nice, but needs just a bit of smoothing out. BUT ... the clip and top jewel are missing.

SO, the question is, I have $5 into the 3; are they worth getting fixed and would it be costly, or should I sell 'em or use them for parts??

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

probably the one best suited to a stab at restoration is the Vac. Still, a clip and jewel can set you back $30 and a restoration another $30.

I have a spare cap that should have the clip and jewel you need and can also do the filler for you if interested... let me know

Great finds, and are well worth repairing. You can find a duofold nib on ebay once in a while.

put them in the parts/restore bin.

parts will come along, as will other pens that might need what you got there. Price was right.

Five bucks is a great price for those three. Just hang on to them till either the parts come along, or another junker you can harvest from.
