This might sound dumb or frequently asked, but does anyone else put the cap on the end of their pen. I've been noticing lately that there are small scratches on the ring and on the end of the pen where I place my cap. It feels more balanced if I do, though it is starting to do the light scratches.

I always used to post my pens without giving it a second thought until I read on a post here that many do not, for fear of ruining the pens. Now, I never post. Hope this helps!

Well, it's really no big deal and they're small enough to be invisible, but I've put in an order for that polish kit from Tryphon in hopes that it will remove the scratches. Perhaps I should get the 149 or other bigger pen for better balance?

Capping the end does help keep the pen on the table, as I've witnessed my Le Grand roll off the desk and onto the floor a few times (luckily I have carpet).

I do not generally post caps when I am writing. One of the reasons I like the 146 and especially the 149 is that they are comfortable for writing unposted. One of my 146's was bought used and it did have a lot of scratching from being posted. I was able to polish most of the scratches off, so it looks more like normal wear than it did. So I am glad I don't post, especially with the soft resin on my MB's.

hi all,
I never post the cap, but the roll off the table scenario is freightening, for the pen and for Your clothes.
What I do is that I always keep the pen in my hand if the cap is not securelly screwed over the nib/section end of the pen.

Well I have to be different, as usual, and I always post except for two pens I have with cap lip cracks (came to me that way) and my urushi/Maki-e pens where we are talking about serious damage from posting and not some scratch marks. I buy pens to use, not for resale value, so if it gets a ring, that just means I am really using it!
