Full Version: Ink Choice for Thank you notes

I recently got married, and of course now need to send out thank you notes--

Im thinking I would really like the ink to stand out from the normal blue/black...

Any suggestions other than violet, blue, or black? Something with some character.

All thoughts appreciated!

How about Waterman Havana Brown or Noodlers Red-Black (very similar) on cream colored paper?

Consider using a brown ink; it's uncommon yet elegant.

Then there's the choice of pen, nib, and style of writing. Chancery Italic is quite eye-catching!

Noodlers Apache Sunset.

R&V Green-Gold.

- Both these need wide, probably stub, nibs, otherwise they may be too hard to read and you won't get the benefit of shading.

PR Orange Crush: an intense orange could be a very good choice - positive, upbeat legible, unusual. The world's greatest expert on oranges is Pthalo: hopefully she'll see this thread, otherwise look for ink reviews by her.

PR Mojo (intense purple).

PR Chocolat.

Or how about an extraordinary blue like PR Supershow or Diamine WES? Or blue-purple PR Tanzanite?

What color are the thank you notes? I think that would help us come up with a good ink color.

Good point about adding the color of the notes-- my new, astonishingly...umm...frugal...wife did a pre-emptive strike and bought a huge box of stark white (read cheap) notes.
So, I will have to add a little something by virtue of the ink. Pen wise, I will be using an XF, or needlepoint nib.

Thanks!

Well if the note is white any ink color would go with it. What was the color(s) of your wedding? You might be able to use a color from your wedding (is it too girly?).

Then I'll cut my suggestions down to one: Mojo. The intense colour will be legible with a very fine nib and will look terrific on white.

The idea of a brown ink is particularly good. Adds some class to otherwise plain note paper. Noodler's Antitiem stands out nicely on white. Sufficiently reserved to be dignified but colorful enough to be personal.
