I just found this site yesterday and its just fueling the fact that I want to get a FP. I had one about 10 years ago that I got from walmart while I was in highschool. I think the main reason I got it was just the fact that it was a fountain pen.

Fast forward 10 years and you find me hunting really neat mechanical pencils and that got me started on the FP thing again. I went to walmart hoping that they might still have some pens but alas they did not.

So the hunt begins. I have to say there is tons of great information here. The main use for me right now would be for note taking in class and even then most of it is in pencil but some things require ink.

Now to find some help on my penmanship (tis really bad)

Welcome to FPN. Some of the office supply stores have FP's. Staples has the Waterman Phileas, a good place to start, and Office Depot has several others. The ink supply is rather simpy though. Where do you reside?

Welcome to the forum. If you spend much time here - you will probably want more than just one new pen! Have fun.

I will check the other office supply stores around and see what they have. I might just have to order one online which is no big deal.

I know I will end up than one FP but i gotta start some where. I also have to work on my penmanship. After looking at some others samples I really have a long way to go.

I live in winder which is about one hour out side of atlanta on the north east side.
After school (Engineering major) my wife and I are hoping to move to colorado.

Hello from a fellow Georgian (Suwanee).

If you get into Atlanta, go to Artlite Office Supply on Piedmont, near Chesire Bridge Rd. They have a pen store next to their office supply store and they carry all kinds of nice stuff so be prepared to want to spend lots of $. They have a lot of clearance items at good prices and the staff is really helpful.

Thats dangerous to know that there is a nice shop relativly close.

dcom - checked out your site, I have to say your low light photography is really nice. I am also in the market for a DSLR so cant spend tons of money on pens or pencils for that matter. Also noticed that you ride, I have a 99' triumph sprint ST that my wife and I both enjoy.

The problems with have too many hobbies (Vintage audio (tubes, vinyl ...etc), new high end audio (tubes, vinyl....etc), mountain biking, and soon to be photography) is that you have to treat all of them at one point or another.

Hopefully in a weekend or two I can make it down to the shop.

Thanks, I've been in photography since high school but switched to all digital about 7 years ago. What you saw on the site is from a convention I do every year where they have lots of performances from bands, comedians, solo acts, etc... I specialize in stuff like that so it gives me the opportunity to do what I love. I'm going to try my hand at some pen and other close-up/macro type work now that I have this new interest in pens. All my work is done using Canon equipment, currently a 30D body which can be found for a surprisingly decent price as far as DSLRs go.

I was looking at the d200 from nikon but the lack of an auto feature scared my wife. She wants to learn but for her its comfort to have that auto program.

It was a toss up between nikon and canon, both very good cameras. But we settled on the D70-D80. Just gotta wait to get it. I will be borrowing a friends for about a week to make sure that I really like it before I get one.
