I'm new to the FP hobby. I journal and write along with photography and the study of tarantula species. I have used a cheap modern mass production Parker FP to journal with for many years. I have always loved the beauty of the pen but I also enjoy using it I'm just getting started in the hobby and I look forward to the discussions. I'm blfresh on the Pentrace site and was invited to these boards. Thanks!

Lee,
Allow me to be the first to welcome you to the FPNuthouse! I'm a newbie to fp's, but can say that the folks here are extremely hositable and helpful (you'd think they were all southerners . . . ha ha ha tongue.gif ). Welcome aboard from eastern NC!!

Hi Lee,

Welcome to the Mad House of Fountain Pen Enthousiasts, or as southpaw already said, the FPNuthouse biggrin.gif.

Journaling, writing and photography seems a very good combination for contributing to these forums, so I do hope you will find the time to do so.

Of course, tarantulas is not a common hobby, or profession, so where do you study them, if I may ask?

BTW, I happen to be a southerner as well, be it from the Netherlands, rather than the US biggrin.gif. And in the end, we´re all South of the North Pole, aren´t we? biggrin.gif

Warm regards, Wim

Hi southpaw & wim,
Thanks for the welcome! I'm actually a true southerner trapped in Minnesota. lol. I was born in Florida and married in North Carolina. My folks are in Chattanooga, TN. I'm a pastor and I came to the frozen north to pastor a church. Thanks for the kind welcome and I really look forward to hearing and learning from y'all!

Good to see you made it over Lee.

I'm from a little further North - Ottawa, Canada, but hometown was Winnipeg, so the cold Northern winters of Minnesota are no surprise to me.

Seems you've thawed out from this winter, so they must make Floridians tougher than I originally thought, or else the acclimatization process coming through NC helped. smile.gif

Hmmmm, a pastor eh! Well, on the subject of fountain pens, you're preaching to the converted here wink.gif Just be careful - we have many faiths - Parker, Pelikan, MB, Cross, Shaeffer... even Esterbrook!

Once again, welcome to the group. We're looking forward to seeing your posts ... well ... wherever.

Warmest regards,

Gerry

Hello and welcome Lee!

Glad to see you made it over here wink.gif

Each of the FP boards has it's own tempo and flavor, so to speak...

This little corner of the internet is a nice balance of community + threaded discussions + a longer "memory" (archived posts)

Enjoy!

Welcome to the community Lee. I would like to see some tarantula pics. I grew up on the Minnesota/Ontario border in Canada. smile.gif

Hi Lee.

Welcome to FPN. Tarantulas, eh? On a warm day at Lake Whitney (near Waco, TX) I would see these guys hangin' out on the sunlit side of our lake cabin. A little spooky to me at the time - I was 10. smile.gif But very cool and beneficial critters.

Hi, Lee! Nice to meet you. smile.gif

Tarantulas, hmm? I grew up with a brother very into bugs, and before I became a bit afraid of tarantulas, had a few as pets myself that we'd caught in the AZ desert. They're great pets, but having seen my brother bitten by one (his fault), I became pretty afraid of their fangs.
