Boy it must be nice to read books and find out you have an absolutely mint pen and then use your imagination to increase the price according to what you believe the value has increased since the book was printed....

Well, if the amber vac is a true Crystal (all amber barrel and not striped) in true Standard three-band form, it is something of a bargain (not kidding), but something tells me it does have striped, in which case it is rather less the bargain

Im not an expert on Vacs, but the pen in Davids pic is a Ultra rare (correct me if im wrong) Vacumatic with the rare "Parker Vacumatic" inprint on the cap band, I think there are only 35?

The pen indeed is a Parker Vacumatic with the scarce and desirable "Parker Vacumatic"-capband.
It is not that there are 35 of the pen. Rather, 25 different model/color variant pens and pencils were produced with this band, probably for couple months or less time. I have iirc 18 of the variants in my collection.
I tend to eschew such strong words as "ultra rare", leaving that sort to Al n' the guys on ebay. These are not common. They are high cachet. They do crop up, especially given the variety of sizes and colors so produced.
Pen in banner is the Red SEniro Maxima, probably the most valuable- though not the most scarce- of the variants. I've probably seen or heard of 5-7 Reds in this size during the last 9 years.

Not easy. Not impossible. In fact... i sort of just picked up a nice spare Golden Pearl Senior Max like this, due to head to the restorer. Probably back by May. Will set you back around $1500.

Griz, is it just me or is the $400 Vac sporting the wrong nib?? Looks silver in the photo.
Those crystals are really nice. I have seen one, and am still trying to pry it away from the owner. I keep telling him it was a mistake they made at the factory and he just won't beleive me.
Cheers,
