Hi,

I recently acquired a Parker-Eversharp. The previous owner had let an ink cartridge dry out inside the pen. To cut a long story short, after disassembly and cleaning, the pen writes reasonably well, a bit of scratchiness that some smoothing will fix.

The nib itself was gold colored, however, ink deposits on both the top and bottom of the nib have corroded away the gold color. I've cleaned the corroded spots off, but now I have a problem, bits of the nib are gold and parts are silvery. The nib itself is marked with a Parker arrow symbol and the letter M.

Now on to the questions!

1. Is there any reason I shouldn't very gently remove all of the gold coloring to achieve a uniform look?

2. Does anyone know about how much and where I'd look for a replacement nib?

3. Any recommendations as to whether or not this nib type will take kindly to being ground to a stub/italic nib?

Thanks for your reading and time! I hope none of my questions are overly silly. smile.gif

I'll answer one of my own questions, apparently the nib is the same as the Parker 45 nibs. So yes I can get a replacement!
