Here is one that should provide ebay hunters food for thought. No, this one is not so subtle.. laugh.gif

Still, the BIN on this nice Vac is somewhere north of what any of the big retailers of Vacs would charge for a (really) excellent pen with full warranty.

Good deal or bad deal?

cheers.

MMMM, let's see... the nib is bent, the section looks like it was chewed on my someone's kid or cat, the clip is wrong. It appears to be a standard grade Third Generation.
Parting out the pen you are looking at about $40 I would say, maybe a bit more if the body is good...
IF you have the parts to correct the pen it might not be a bad deal at the asking price to about $25.00
UNLESS, it is one of the Vacumatic clones we sometimes see, then it might have some collectible value as a counterfeit.

But, what the hey do I know... tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

I think the Buy It Now valuation would be more justified if the pen were part of the world-famous Philip Benz Collection.

Come to think of it, reading the text style ... it couldn't be, could it? wink.gif

the nib looks to bend to the left side. Maybe the glow part is so people round the corner can see him coming. smile.gif

Cannot tell size from the listing, but looking at the profile of the nib (apart from the "customization") looks like a bog standard 3rd Gen Major Silver Pearl with a non standard clip.

Might go to $40 for it if I needed the parts badly, but would ultimately pass on this one.

BIN price is a joke. Even the totally mint stickered silver pearls that I had went for less than that from a well known dealer.

Next test please Dr.

Cheers,
SG

BTW Doc, b/c me on that other thing when you get a chance

Well,i do try to keep an open mind regarding "value", but i'd note that with bad nib, probably bad section and bad clip there is very very little left of value. Pretty just a pump and worn plastic. Not too pretty.

This is fun. Will have to dig up other examples.

Heck, when i list stuff, it'll probably be even more horrible than this. dry.gif

I'd think Mr. Benz would know better than to list a pen without mentioning (in big red letters) that it had never seen daylight before and, of course, that it had been religiously kept away from all forms of ink. laugh.gif

I clicked that link and the first thing I noticed was how bent the nib was, and I know little to nothing about a good example of standard Third Generation anythings. sad.gif

Nothing to add from a technical, or sarcasm, standpoint, other than to apologize that the seller is a fellow Texan. Although some of us do like to exaggerate ....
Here, the BIN price would be described as something that its owner is too proud of.

I'm guessing it is the Queen's pen.

Correctamundo. After it was surgically removed from my left temple, hence the bent nib. The Queen was not amused by my Sheaffer Stylist acquisition. tongue.gif
