The Legend

Which colours do you think are virtual identical to Penman?

And are these inks better for your FP, as OldGriz stated in this forum?

* Sapphire Blue
* Emerald Green
* Mocha Brown
* Ebony Black
* Ruby Red

So far I have not found ANY ink / color that is virtually identical to Penman ruby, otherwise I'd have at least 6 bottles of it on hand! biggrin.gif I have never had any problems with Penman ink in any of my pens.

I really didn't like any of the Penman colors except Sapphire. Much as I loved it, though, I'd be awfully hard pressed to distinguish it from Private Reserve American Blue or Supershow Blue.

Am I'm pretty picky about blues!

I'll second the Sapphire is nice all the rest I can pass on laugh.gif And Private reserve has some close ones but I hav noticed that Namiki blue has some characteristics that are close to Penman as well.

I went to all three "pen shops" in London and bought all the Ruby I could find. the best red on the planet.
But boy does that stuff get used up quickly. I only have three bottles left.

Ditto to what Greg says on the blue. Only I'd add that Noodler's Blue is also pretty close, as well as Swisher Pens North Seas Blue--which is made by Noodler's.

As far as Emerald Green, there are going to be people who disagree, but I'd say Swisher Emerald is pretty close, and Diamine Emerald is not all that far off--and more interesting, I think. But PR Sherwood blows Penman Emerald out of the water.
