Hello,
I'm new here. Thesaurus Rex told me about FPN. I have been a fountain pen user most of my life, but not really dedicated until recently. I resurrected my Esterbrook J (1956). It still works beautifully. I am actually amazed that I managed not to lose it in over 5 decades. It's older than my teeth (I was still on my first set when I got it).
I'm still using my three original pens (the other two are Sheaffers). I have one new pen - a cute little Pilot Birdie, that travels with me. I just bought a Waterman Kultur in marbled green on eBay (Thesaurus Rex recommended that one).
I've discovered a really fine pen shop here in Toronto - Laywine's. I'm saving up for a Pelikan M200 "Tradition".
I have already found many kindred spirits here and hope to get to know you better.

Hi Den and welcome to FPN!

I live in Vancouver, BC myself but I know there are quite a few Canucks around here on FPN. FPN member "goodguy" was trying to organize a Toronto pen gathering a while back, so if you are interesed in future meetups, you might want to send him a PM (personal message) or email to let him know that there's another Torontonian in the house!

(oops! almost forgot---FPN member "Tienlong" is also from T.O. and I think he works in a pen store downtown)
Cheers,
~Maja
P.S. Haven't heard from Thesaurus Rex in ages...How is he doing?

Hi Den, I also live in Toronto and it's good to hear that you've gotten into the addiction. There are a few good shops in TOronto so if you want to know, just give me a PM.
THanks

Welcome Den,
I'm from Montreal. I have never been to Toronto for some strange reasons.
I hope I'll have a chance to swing by those nice pen shop.

Thesaurus Rex is doing great and posting on FireDogLake.com regularly.
I've been to one store in Toronto - Laywine's. I found them friendly and helpful.
On the face of this is either an really practical and economical obsession (not many addictions have a practical side) -
or
It's an inexhaustable money sink. I mean, really, who needs a $20,000 George Washington Montblanc? (seen today on eBay)

Welcome to FPN! I'm afraid if you hang around here long enough - you might start wondering why you DON'T have that Geaorge Washington MB!
Have fun!!

Oops! Sorry I forgot to mention you as part of the FPN T.O contingent, Brad

I used to post a "Welcome to FPN!

" greeting to every new member at one time but then I got lazy and put it in my signature
Anyway, belated greetings to every new FPN member!!

I mentioned to Trex that he was being missed. His reply
"Aw, I miss those guys, too. I should stop in tomorrow and say hello. That is truly the most polite and considerate message board I have ever read. It’s almost eerie."
And from me: Thanks for the welcome.

You're very welcome

Good to see that T.Rex is still writing about pens (on a political site!); I read his review of the Waterman Kultur and I see he hasn't lost his witty writing style

GULP! I am beginning to realize that you just might be right! I'm doomed!
Is there a 12-step group for pen addiction?
The pen is indeed mightier than the sword.
I'm going to like it here.
Thanks TRex

Indeed there is:
Step 1 - Send all your pens to me.
I can't remember the rest of the steps

EDIT: Forgot to add a hearty, "Welcome to FPN."

Welcome to FPN. I have very few pens older than I am. I've got to get a move on and buy some older vintage pens.
