Hello i am 28 years old from malaysia.

My dad had a MB but i forgot what model. it is not the Masterpiece series and my dad's fav ink was the MB Bordeux colour...brownish blue.

actually i have been using fountain pens since i was 13 when my dad bought me a Parker Vector Stainless Steel. couple of months back he bought me a Reform and i bought myself a red Lamy Safari in 1994.

i used those pens till i graduated in 2002.

sadly after that i din use them at put them in a corner and they got missing when i moved house. i know they are still around somewhere, but i just couldnt find them.

2 weeks ago while walking in a department store back in malaysia, i dunno what happened and i got itchy and bought a silver Lamy Al-Star. ...they had 20% discount and i got mine for about USD28.

just 2 weeks with the Al-Star and after going thru this forum, i am thinking of getting the 2000, Studio and a MB 146......need o check out how much they cost in Malaysia....

a lil regret now i had not bought them when i was in Uni last time in Scotland. i know they were cheap back then and they alays give 20% to students.

Welcome to FPN and back to using fountain pens. I'm sure you will find and use some good pens.

Another welcome from Texas--we have a lot of products here manufactured in your country.

Hard to go wrong with Lamy--I'd love to see a review of yours.

Welcome to the forum! I like hearing about folks who started writing with FP's early in life. We always seem to go back to them at some point.

Enjoy your stay here!

thanx all, i forgot to add, i actually started to have a thing with FP when i was before 13 i think....

i would say around 8 or 9 because i was brought up by my grandma and i used to stay with her during my kindergarten and primary days.

i have a bad habit of digging up stuff and it was during one of my 'stint's i found my dad's old Parker pen and a lot of his high schoole notes. damn, my dad's writing was damn good....i wish mine's half as good.

i remember the pen was dark blue in colur, had a fine nib and a leaky old style rubber converter. sadly i never kept it.

my dad was born in 1948 so i figured the pen could be an early 60s pen. i aksed him and he seemed to have forgotten about those pens as well. but he told me he used only fountain pens during his schooling days.

i am actually in labuan, not really much shops here, found a shop which has got some funny pens, funny brands, but he wants a premium for them.

Hi!

I've been to Malaysia a few times, loved it there smile.gif Especially Malaysian food. So tasty! Sadly I've only been to KL, but in the future... who knows!

I think I used my first fountain pen when I was 14 or 15... before then, mostly pencils! Nothing like the ones you've had a chance to write with though, I used blisterpack Stypens and a Parker Jotter!
