Hey folks, I'm a new guy here. I don't own any fountain pens, although I have always wanted a nice one. I found this website while trying to do some research on dip and fountain pens as I think I'll try my hand at making one or two. There's a wealth of information here and I am already appreciative of what I've learned!
I'm in Jacksonville, 45 minutes from New Bern and 45 minutes from Wilmington, for anyone interested.
Thanks again!

Welcome to the FPN Cap. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay - post some pics when you get those pens turned!

Hey Cap. From a Greensboro newbie--first post was last night--welcome!
These guys are right. Once you get the fever, you'll be buyin' and makin' 'em as fast as you can.
As others have mentioned, maybe we can all get together at the Raleigh Pen show in early June and have dinner or a drink or two.

Hi Cap,
I'm just west on I40 a bit, roughly 1/2 way between Raleigh and Wilmington (exit 355). Anyhow, welcome aboard! Might be time to think about an eastern NC pen club!?!?
See you around!

Thanks for all the replies guys! I'd be interested in getting together in June or having an eastern get together sometime. I'm sure my wife is going to be happy I've found something else I want to spend money on!

Welcome to FPN. Boy you've struck a note with the other Carolinians. There are a number of pen turners here as well.

Glad to hear that, since I don't know anything about them! I make knives as a hobby and I know several makers also do pens, but they're usually ballpoints, so I wanted to try my hand at something a bit different.

Giving Cap a shout out from NYC. If you're going to make pens you'd better get started now....the D.C. show is only five months away!

Well, I'm looking at lathes right now. I've got access to a couple mini-lathes that I planned to use on the weekends, but I'm thinking I'll just break down and buy one. Don't think I'll be ready to get a table at a show in five months though! I might have to head up there and see what it's all about.
And for Sonia: No, I'm not actually sure
