Could someone identify this style and era pen? I like the shape, which reminds me of my older Sheaffer's Valiants. I've seen a few on ebay too but there never seems to be much info offered.

It reads Waterman on the clip I believe, and looks to be bigger than my Commando.

Anyway this one is on the way. If I only knew what it was? unsure.gif

Thanks,

Funnily enough I have one of these that I bought from an antique fair recently and I have not been able to find out what model it is. Mine has a Watermans 18 Carat number 2 nib stamped France. It has the later waterman lever and it feels like a Waterman but I cannot find it in any of my catalogues.

My clip reads WATERMANS with what looks like a small dot between the N and the S. Looking at your picture my band is a bit thinner though.

So I'm in the same boat unsure.gif

Nice pen though and a great writer cool.gif

Even before reading John's post, I thought the pen looked like a French Waterman. Remember that Jif-Waterman had a licencing agreement with Waterman USA and thus produced some models quite different from the USA models. This applys to the UK also, both before but especially after the failure of the USA company.

There were licencees in other countries as well: I have a neat little Waterman that is a piston filler with ink view windows but a typical 1940s clip and an imprinted Waterman nib. Nishimura thought was likely made by an Italian licensee.

I would judge this pen to be an early to mid-1950s pen.

Mine arrived in fine shape a CF with a glass cartridge and a wonderful flex nib. The only marking other than on the nib is a simple Waterman's imprint, and Waterman's down the clip.

Overall a nice big, fun pen. smile.gif
