Full Version: FP starts slowly but then writes fine

If a fountain pen will only write after a little coaxing to get the ink flowing what is the problem? Once it's started it writes nicely. After it rests for a while it needs encouragement again. The pen is a no-name vintage.

Thanks in advance. smile.gif

How long a rest before it needs coaxing, and what kind of ink are you using?

The ink is either Diamine Monaco Red OR Noodlers Eel Red blink.gif blink.gif -- I don't remember which one I put in. The ink needs coaxing after a few hours -- but I haven't tested it more frequently than that. The pen seems to respond to being held vertically for a few seconds to pull ink down to the nib to get started. Like I said, once I'm writing it's okay. This is one of two pens I altered this weekend replacing their broken nibs with flex dip nibs. (The other one is working very well at least.)
