Ok, so I got this nifty deal in the bay, where i got for $30 a capless Demi 51 Aero and a capless Skyline, plus three other low value pens. I just found out that the 51, being in a plum color, is a rarity. Given a $50 value for your average user-grade 51, can anyone tell me how much would the plum color add?

Hi.

I cannot pull up the ebay ad at moment, but a clean Plum complete pen can easily top $200 retail, keys being retail, "clean" and more to point, "plum".

You did very well if you found a plum, but i'd note that many red-purple Aero 51's are burgundy, not plum. Since i cannot see the pic at moment, i cannot comment further.

Thanks a bundle, David. I do think it's plum, since it's waaay darker thank the burgundy I have. Sweet!

If it is a true plum it will have a distinctly purple color to it when seen in daylight.
Parker made two versions of the burgundy color, one was darker than the other...

mmm... I do not know if this will show the color. On top of a white blotter, with a grey Snorkel and a blue Levenger Verona for color reference.
Date code is "49", which is consistent with plum.

That certainly looks like plum to me - well done. Shame about the ding in the cap though, or is that just a trick of the light?
julikko
Well, actually I got it without cap. I have asked Ernesto (@parker51.com) to send me a new cap...

Ah yes, I didn't read the wording on the eBay listing - sorry.
