Hello Everyone:

I am from the home of the Maze and Blue, or better known as the University of Michigan. I have been using fountain pens over the past 20 years and really enjoy using them very much. Likewise, I love to use various shades of blue ink, but Waterman "Florida Blue" is currently my favorite, but I also have a bottle of Aurora and Parker Quink in blue, which I like very much.

I have a rather modest collection, but I am always on the lookout for vintage pens at estate and yard sales. Recently, I found a Sheaffer Saratoga Snorkel, with a 14K nib for only $1.00 that I am having completely restored. The exterior looks great, but the internal parts need a complete overhaul.

My favorite pen manufacturers are:

Aurora
Pelikan
Sailor
Parker (51)
Sheaffer

I look forward to learning a lot here and having a lot of fun. biggrin.gif

Hi Mannenhitsu...and welcome to FPN (from a fellow 1965-er)! biggrin.gif
Thanks for filling in your FPN profile! It's always nice to know a little bit more about a new member, although I guess not everyone wants to divulge extra info about themselves until they feel more comfortable here.

I like the list of pens you collect...Thumbs up!
Would you say you are more into modern pens or vintage or 50-50?

Hope you enjoy the site! smile.gif

Yes! From what I see, there are all kinds of reviews on various inks and pens here. I will have to browse through more of them and see what I can learn.

I would have to say I am leaning more towards modern pens, but that could easily shift to 50/50. I tell some of my friends who think I am totally insane for spending more that 50 cents on a pen that just because a pen is over 50 years old, doesn't mean it can't be restored to near mint condition and provide me or anyone else with many decades of great service. Moreover, vintage pens represent a different mentality from a now by-gone era, where something was made to last a lifetime, rather than five minutes. With a lot of love and care, these pens can go on forever.

I use to work right across from the U of M on State Street back in 1991. They recently made some major changes to the traffic patterns in Ann Arbor, by making many one-way streets into two-way thoroughfares. Having grown up in the area for the past few decades, it took me a while to adjust to the differences.

Yes, I know Pam and like to order from her. She has outstanding deals and great customer service.
