Anyone trieed this with MB?

My understanding is that you get free nib exchange but only within a certain period after buying the pen (no idea if they check for sales slips or anything). I did this with a 149 some years ago with no problem.

I have a pen that is a few years old but only dipped and wanted to see if I could swap out a M for a F nib. If not, I believe their section prices are pretty rude, no?

In which case I guess it is off to the nibgrinders....

I think it is 6 weeks to exchange the nib? Or maybe less.

Upon purchase of my Jules Verne LE FP, sent the pen through the local distributor in Athens/Greece to Hamburg to change the nib from "F" to "M". It took six weeks to get it back and cost me nothing. Writers' edition FPs are under a special service arrangement and the nib ecchange is offered free of charge, considering that the nib is in "as new" condition.

I had my doubts whether MB would provide this service or not, since the pen was introduced in 2003 and was already out of production. But, they prooved me wrong...

As I recently posted in this MB forum, I had my F replaced by
an XF and was only charged $55 plus shipping (and tax,
I think). I got the pen back in about three weeks, but that
was longer than it should have been; they informed me
that they had to wait on a part.

I queried Montblanc's Pennsylvania service center last week about a nib exchange.

This is the substance of their reply:

"Our service department will be glad to assist you in exchanging the nib on your writing instrument.

The nib sizes we have available are extra-fine, fine, medium and broad. Double broad and oblique nibs are also available on certain models.

There is a service charge of $32.00 if your pen is made from resin and $52.00 if your pen is metal, provided the nib is in excellent condition.

If the nib is found not to be in excellent condition, an estimate will be sent for your approval."
