Just joined the forum and I'm a complete rookie when it comes to writing instruments so I'm hoping to learn quite a bit - though I eventually hope to become a worthwhile contributer. I've only recently discovered how enjoyable it can be to write with a good roller or fountain pen.

I've long been a watch nut. I can't even believe how many watches have passed through my hands. Lately however, I've gotten' to the point where I'm actually quite happy with my collection and I don't feel the need to add any more watches to the watch winders in my closet. Though, to be honest, I am expecting one more watch arrival next week. Hey, I had an open slot in one of my winders that was begging to be filled. smile.gif

Anyway, about a year ago I purchased a watch from Steinhart watches and they sent me a roller and fountain pen as a free gift.

Ehh. "Big deal", I sez. I just put them away on a shelf and forgot about them until about two months ago. I've been struggling to keep a journal going for my son. He's 15 months old now and I'm embarrased at the too few entries I've made in the last year. So on a whim I popped in the cartridge on the fountain pen and started writing.

That's all she wrote. I'm now hooked. I have a nice looking pen box on the way to me as well as two Apogees (black laquer roller and fp) due to arrive this coming Tuesday. No more ball points for me.

Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself.

Hi Alex, I'm keeping a journal for my baby too. He's two years old and likes to grab my pens when I'm not looking. biggrin.gif Welcome to FPN and the slippery slope, yadda yadda... biggrin.gif

Have you bought a pen for your son? Do it now. I've been getting pens for my grandkids and I plan to teach them how to use them as they get older. As for the journal, when you are gone it will be treasured by your children. I wish I had a journal to read that my father had kept.

Welcome from south of Houston! I'm guessing you're enjoying what little winter we get. That's a handsome son of yours--I thought he looked a little young to be posting here. rolleyes.gif

When you get ready to look at any more pens, the review archives here will be very helpful. And I know what you mean about the watches--I stopped at about 100.

Looking forward to your contributions--
