I just noticed this Manhattan Blue Noodlers ink that was apparently made for Art Brown. You can see it at the website address below. Would love to hear people's thoughts on this -- the ink and the color. Thanks

I bought a bottle and, to me, it's nearly identical in color to Diamine's Prussian Blue. Manhattan Blue may be just a touch grayer, but it's very very close, imo.

Right now, it's in my new blue Pelikan 605 (M) (the one on sale at Fahrney's) and doing splendidly. biggrin.gif

Edited for mistake when trying to answer when I'm too tired... blush.gif It's the Prussian Blue that's a bit grayer, not the Manhattan Blue. At least in daylight and under my full-spectrum light (Ott) on Clairefontaine. On off-white paper they are closer in color, I guess because the MB does gray down on such a paper.

And added: When I bought MB and C d'A's Storm from Art Brown, I did wince at the shipping, but to be fair, they sent it FedEx fast and it was packed well.

Manhattan Blue is a very dark blue--one poster, just after it came out, described it as being the color of a navy pea coat, which is accurate. I have it in an old Edward Todd eyedropper pen, which lays down a wet line. This ink flows beautifully and is very rich and dense when it dries. When submerged in water the blue washes off, leaving behind an indelible olive-green component that is still strongly legible.

My experiences with Manhattan Blue are that it creeps BADLY!! I think I have wasted quite a bit of ink from it leaking into the cap and on the nib of my Esterbrook J with 1551 Student nib. I don't like leaky pens like that, but since this was my first fill of this pen since I refurbished it, I will look into using another ink, hopefully today. Bulletproof Black has given me great results with all of my pens, but I think Manhattan Blue is just too watery...it's not viscous enough. Or at least IMHO.

I completely agree with what Craig said. I don't regret buying a bottle of it. Art Brown's shipping is kind of high.

The label is nice. Always good to see a dirigible on a bottle of ink. Not enough of those, I say.

As for Manhattan Blue, I never tried it nor have I ever heard of it. Now on the other hand, I bought some Noodlers Manhattan Black that is made for the Fountain Pen Hospital. That is a wonderful Black ink!!
