I collect the odd Parker 180 - I find they are rather nice to use as I like a fine nib (they all come with two nibs - reversible if you aren't familiar with this model, and one is always an F or XF), and they are a slim light pen akin to a Sheaffer Targa Slim in size.

So I couldn't pass by this really odd 180.

It is a special version made for the fashion house Pucci, I believe in 1975 but I would love to hear anything anyone can add to this story.

It is a clipless purse pen in brushed stainless steel with 22K GP band and this one came with a leather pouch with 'MJs Parker' and 'by Pucci' embossed on it.

I had not seen one of these before and felt compelled to add it to the collection. No sooner did I accomplish that than I saw a matching BP for sale, which of course I was then obliged to pick up so I'd have a matched pair (alas, sans pouch for the BP). It will make an interesting item for SWMBO to take to pen club meetings, at least. Has anyone seen many of these?

PS - oddly, I thought. the cap does not contain an inner shell that would allow it to be posted, so Ms Parker had to presumably hold the cap in other hand, pouch perhaps in teeth and write with the remaining hand.

Did Parker go around promoting this sort of thing or did the businesses like Pucci come to them and ask for a custom pen, I wonder?

Hi Bill,

Here are some scans of the original advertising for the Ms. Parker 180's that might answer some of your questions. These are dated from 9/77 to 6/79. I have had several of these over time and do not know why they don't command a better price than what they sell for. They are very beautiful, but a regular 180 will sell for a higher price more often than not. While you don't see this often, they are not scarce or rare. I sold some of these a couple of years back and had a hard time getting the price they sold for new. headsmack.gif headsmack.gif lticaptd.gif lticaptd.gif
These were not made for Pucci, but just designed by him. Notice the price increase over a couple of years.

Hope this helps, Francis

Great original material, Francis, thanks.

Any idea if the BP takes a regular Parker refill?

HI Bill,

These 180's take the Parker rollerball refill or a systemark refill.

Francis
