Well now you've gone and done it.
After lurking here for the last month or so, I'm up to about 15 pens and I don't see any hope for my future.

I was initially attracted to fountain pens because I liked the idea of functional antiques - old things that can still be used everyday. However I soon had to try new pens so that I'd have something to compare the old ones with. Now I have an equal number of each, and I'm still trying to determine which I prefer. My research is ongoing...

Research, balderdash..............
You’re addicted and you better face up to it. It will be easier.
I see these things because I am the only sane person here.

Welcome to FPN……………………………… biggrin.gif

Welcome from Texas! I'm also a Les Paul/Mary Ford fan. I expect your "research" will require more acquisitions. And then, of course, the questions about ink will start-- sad.gif

Welcome to FPN. So sorry you've succumbed to the fountain pen bug. It's a serious malady for which there is no cure. It is, however, relatively harmless to ones health unless of course you are married and then it can have serious effects on one's health and well being.

From one Michigander to another, welcome aboard to the FPN. Where do you call home in the "Water-Winter Wonderland State?" You should go and visit the Michigan Pen Show this year in the area around Southfield. You will find some goodies to take home with you I am sure. biggrin.gif

It's funny how us Michiganders all come out to welcome each other. I think there are quite a few of us on this board.

Nice to have you here!

Despite being from a non-Michigan "M" state, I'm happy to give you a hearty welcome. If you care to travel to a non-Michigan M state, you'll always be welcome in Minnesota too. Just bring a fountain pen.

Of course, in conversation between us, when referring to the U of M, it shall be Minnesota, home of a colorful rodent, the impishly smiling Golden Gopher. If I speak of the Little Brown Jug, I'll wait until it returns here, if it ever returns here. Basically, the U of M must always be the place where only maroon and gold can be found. Your opinions may differ.

At least, we've got the Great Lakes in common (though you have one as a namesake) and you've got Pear Tree Pens in your corner. I just have their internet address.

How far is it to Hell from St. Paul? That's Hell, Michigan, not Minneapolis (where St. Paulites go to sin). (Small Twin Cities rivalry joke there.)

In any event, welcome. I agree with the others. Forget research. You are your own best evaluater. Of course, this means you've got a few more than 11 pens to evaluate. The Road to Pen-ury runs through the FPN Twelve Step Program. It is simple, buy 12 fountain pens, then buy 12 more. lticaptd.gif Repeat often. Very often.

I'd suggest getting to know Pear Tree Pens. I visit Pear Tree often, drooling appropriately in the privacy of my own home. They are near you, or at least in the same state, and James Partridge always provides great information and lots of insight in his posts here.

Welcome! You'll learn so much here and meet lots of very nice people too.
