It's fun to see the polls for how many inks we have. Some listed them out. I like to SEE the inks in use, especially side by side. I have been impressed with earlier posts where people write out a sample line with each of their pens using the ink they currently have in each. Since I do a lot of ink mixing, I need to be able to see subtle color differences in my array of inks easily, so I thought I'd write a line with each on one page as a sample catalog or inventory. (Actually, I do this on several different papers, since many inks look different depending on the paper.)
These are dip tests using a Waterman Exception medium nib that writes a wet, medium-to-broad line that allows me to really see the colors well. I also put a cotton-tip swab sample on the right side. (The asterik indicates a waterproof ink)
My apologies if this has already been done... I'm a relative newbie here.

Thank you and all the others that take the time to do this so the rest of don't have to. One thing always stands out to me and that is the PR inks. Every time there is a posting like this, no matter the inks, Pr always seems to be brighter and richer.
Again, thank you.

Thanks. I'm glad that the intensity and brilliance of the Private Reserve inks shows in the scan. They are just stunning.
A side "benefit" of this exercise for me is that my first step in cleaning the nib is to "flick" it into a large sink where cold water is running. With the PR inks, it's like watching a fireworks display!!

This is great!
I don't have a working scanner and not nearly as many inks, otherwise I'd join in.
Yes, those PR blues are very nice!. I may have to get some...

Coco: Please keep in mind that many of us buy the Noodler bulletproof inks for their permanence and mix with more intense, brilliant colors (in my case with PR inks) to liven them up. I'm glad if this helps you in your decisions.

Hi kid...
Yes, blue has been my obsession. But I have a lot of new colors on order based on FPN postings. Just wait until my next ink listing in April!!

Your Noodler's Hunter Green came out considerably lighter than mine, which is a dark pine green.

HEY!! I am no kid! I am a teen! Or, since I am a "proper" teen, I think the name would be Kyle. Kyle will do just fine.
My favorite color is red, although when it comes to writing, I'd say blue, blue-black, or black. Correcting in red is always fun too!

Maybe the "kid" was taken from your user name, "vacuumkid3". It would have been weird to call you "vacuum".
DennisU, neat scan! I've been meaning to do one of mine, but it'll have to wait till spring break or so. I shouldn't even be on here right now-- I have much to do!

Yes, but this is an example where the paper makes all the difference! It does look darker on other paper and/or with other nibs. Sometimes it comes out like this.

Hana, you got it exactly right! Also, you have been very inspirational to me and a lot of others here at FPN. Your penmanship is gorgeous and your posts tell me that you are wise too. I ordered Apache Sunset due to you and I also bought a bunch of dip pens. I'm looking for my own "Miss Swan" too!
Finally, your "zoom in" blow-ups of the writing samples is something I do a lot now, just to get a "close up" detailed look at ink shades.
Many, many thanks from one of your numerous fans!!

thanks for this post. ive been debating over a few inks recently, and trying to see how different blues from noodlers and private reserve compare to the namiki blue that i love so much. this comparo has helped me finalize a couple decisions as well.

I'm amazed at how lovely all of your inks look together, Hana. You go for unique inks. I can't find a plain-looking color there! (Actually, I rescind: only one doesn't strike me as interesting -- the Montblanc Je T'aime. Does it really look so plain-red in person?)

The Je t'aime is not my favorite-- it's not watery-subtle like the Bordeaux. It is really plain red like in the scan, and smells like a chemical rose.
-Hana
P.S. It doesn't write fine hairlines, either. The Bordeaux is great for flex, though! Those who dislike MB for its watery nature may like Je t'aime.

My current favorite is the second (lighter, greener) Old Skrip blue-black. It has great flow, won't dry up on the nib when I pause, has interesting color, shades well, makes great hairlines, keeps up with swells, doesn't smear..
I'm a little bit busy right now with commissions, so my website will have to wait a little! Thank you for your interest.

Since you have two different types of the Skrip blue-black, I think you distinguished them by cap color. Which of these is the "second" type that you liked?

The second on the list is the one with the gold top. I've heard that the new Skrip blue-black are more like this one, so I'm not worried about running out of it-- phew!

Thank you, you've been so very kind to me.
