Has anyone seen or tried out the new Rouge et Noir reproduction pen? Vulcanized rubbber, retactable nib and eyedropper-filled. Looks like a winner to me. How many thousand do you think they want for this? Seriously, I love the looks of this pen but I have no idea who is selling it. I can't seem to find a dealer with one in stock.

what do you think?

Pretty... Only 100 made , wow, this is beyond limited edition!
It's probably beyond my budget anyway. The other old fashion model is nice with the retractable nib, but this one looks really special.

I'm sure the price will be quite shocking.

Protected in a casket with historical ornamentation, the exceptional collector´s set is strictly limited to only 100 pieces and is available in selected Montblanc boutiques as from October 2006.

That's what it says! Thanks for the link. I'd love to hear what the response in German was! Yeah, at 100 pens "in caskets," the price can't be cheap. I'm going to take a guess and say $1500.00. Who knows if I'm even in the ballpark? Surely the casket doesn't add more than $1300.00 to the cost of the pen!

Wow, that is one sweet pen. Very pretty nib. I know my price ceiling has been slowing rising, but it will never reach the heights that baby is going to sell for.

I loved the Historical pen when it came out, but feel sad that it's carrying a $715 price tag. And, as you say, the same here too. For such a gorgeous pen, it would be great to share these with the world for say, the same price as a 146. This would definitely make it more accessible to all, but more importantly, it might just revive a trend in 'older' pens. MB could be on to a real winner there.

I know many of us would have one, but the FP still needs a wider audience that is not solely limited to the Meisterstuck range or 'bling' culture.

... until then, I guess I'll dream....

Oh my sweet lord! This has to be the MOST expensive BHR pen ever!! Does anyone know of the going rate for an original Rouge Et Noir from 1909? I would imagine you would be able to purchase the vintage pen for a fraction of what the reissue costs. Does anyone have one?

Hi all,

yes, I touched the Rouge Et Noir - a fantastic pen - even more impressing the hard rubber travelling ink well. Just one problem with this - it was delivered filled -
and of course, it leaked - especially after an airtravel to the US.

The price ? Incredibly high if compared to a simple BHR pen,
Relatively high, compared to an original sliding barrel safety Montblanc.
Last one I saw - a model 6 though - would have cost me 12.000 Euro - 15.000 Dollars.

Price is incredibly low taking into account, that all parts have been developed for a 100 pen edition - order a nib made from scratch at BOCK´s and its 20.000 Euro - plus the cost of the single nib.
I do not want to imagine, how much the reinvention of the inkwell cost.

Thus, my guess it, Montblanc did this pen just to have some fun, but not to make a profit.

Regards
Tom

PS but they should have done a no. 6 size pen, not a neat little no. 4 size pen.
