Among my many treasured expanse of Mont Blancs is an equally cherished inherited Meisterstuck fountain, ballpoint and pencil set. The barrel of the Ballpoint, however, is cracking. How can I interrupt this devastation? The factory wants about as much as my late elderly relative would have paid for the single Ballpoint pen years ago. There must be some replacement that could "cosmetically" fit the gold point and mate with the cap. Any suggestions will help. Thanks.

Unfortunately, MB service can sometimes be expensive. Such is life in the luxury-brand lane...
If you don't mind telling, how much did they quote for the repair?
Even though it can cost a lot, the fact that MB is willing to repair older pens that they keep parts for is a good thing. Your older ballpoint may have different internal parts than the newer ones. If they're willing to do the repair, the repair should be back to "as new" condition. I'm not sure, but if it's important, you may be able to ask for the old parts to be returned to you.
