Hi,
I have been reading the forum for a while and decided to join. I have been collecting and using fountain pens for a few years. I am choosy, and don't have alot of pens (I just bought my 11th one), but the ones I do I have I love and use. I also enjoy using glass dip pens.

Hi

and welcome to FPN! Tell us about your pens. I have about two dozen - some very inexpensive and some in middle range. I use them all.

You know you're on the slippery slope when you say things like "...don't have alot of pens (I just bought my 11th one)
My husband says "I like my fountain pen, why would I need another one?" Not on the slippery slope.

Hello and welcome,
don't be concerned about the number of pens in your collection. I've gone from a high around 40 down to a dozen right now.
Just enjoy the ones you have.
Welcome again,

I find glass dip pens work best if the point is thin and pointy, and the groves in it are straight. I just dip it in the ink, wipe on the side of the ink bottle, and write. They are fun. Keep trying, I am sure you will succeed.

Hello and welcome! I'm glad to see you here.
That's quite a nice collection you have.
When you're using a dip pen, do you work on special projects? If you use them for calligraphy, could you post a bit more information please? Are you writng poetry, prose, fiction or non-, notes, letters or the grocery list? Or all of the above? Could you post some samples?
In any event, enjoy it here. You will learn so much and the people are terrific. At 11 pens, you're only one pen short of the FPN 12 Step Pen Program. That is, you get your first 12, then another 12, and ...

I don't do calligraphy. I use the dip pen mostly for making lists and notes at my desk.

Hello KT and welcome aboard the FPN. I know a few former students of mine from Japan, who really love to use glass dip pens. I am almost tempted to buy one and use it, just to see how well they write. Some of the glass pens I have seen look fantastic.
