Hi everyone!!!!

I love month ends coz thats the time my salary gets credited into my account and a get a chance to buy my favourite pen.......
I just walked into a local premium pen store today with all intensions to buy a waterman charleston but to my surprise I found that charleston line has been discontinued sad.gif . I had seen one ivory charleston in a department stores earlier and enquired if they had a black GT, but they didn't have one in stock. So I decided to go to this pen store to get it if they had one. Since it was discontinued I decided to browse through some of the other brands....(Omas, Parker, Sheaffer, Pelikan, aurora, MontBlanc, Sailor, Cross, etc). The Sailor caught my eye at once because of its gleeming gold nib (14k) and black barrels. I asked the sales person to show it to me and I liked it from the first moment happycloud9.gif . I even asked him to show me a pelikan but i was not keen on getting one since I already have a M200 and an M400 was out of budget. The MontBlancs looked good but were too over-priced for me, no doubt they are of exceptionally good quality. I finally decided on the Sailor and asked him to pack it up for me. And I walked out as a proud owner of what I feel, a truely amazing pen. happycloud9.gif

I want to know what you guys think about the pen since it was a spontaneous buy for me. Usually I do quite a lot of research and then decide whether or not to buy a particular pen. If the charleston was available I would have definitely picked it up without a second thought.

Has anyone used a Sailor? If yes how has the experience been? The dealer gave me a lifetime warranty and assured that the pen would not give any problems. How is the service of Sailor?

Please clarify my queries.......

Thanks and Regards,
Steve
Ben
I'm glad to hear you like the pen. I have yet to get a Sapporo, but it's on my wish list.

I'm reading about this pen as I write........ And am very happy to know that I've made a good buy. The pen feels good in hand and the nib is just awesome..... I'll post some pics of this pen in a couple of days...

I don't have a Sapporo as they are new, but I have 2 1911's and they are excellent writers and have been bulletproof in reliability and performance to date--no skips, write immediately, perfect lines, etc, right out of the box. I actually have a 3rd old style (my other two are new style) 1911 on the way now.

While I don't have a Sapporo, I do have a Magellan, a 1911 and a 1911M. All are amazingly good pens, I would highly recommend this brand based on my experience.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with the performance of the 1911s I've owned. Congratulations on the new pen!

Arrr matey...once you goes Sailor ye never goes back. I don't have a sapporo yet but I love my 1911. I don't know anything about Sailor customer service as the pen is so gosh darn reliable I've never need their help. Tell us about the sapporo after you use it a while. I am a huge Sailor fan and am very interested in this new pen.

You're not making this any easier for me.

I don't own a 1911 nor a Sapporo (yet), but I do have a Chalana with a 14K EF nib, and a 1980's black lacquer one (with a 14K M nib - I'm not sure what model though), both with super-smooth, writes-straight-out-of-the-box and 100% reliable. More so with the Chalana - I've never encountered any other F or EF nibs that write as smooth as this.

I've seen the pictures of the Sapporo, and it's very impressive. And reasonably priced too smile.gif

Please do keep us updated on the Sapporo after you use it for a while.

Cheers biggrin.gif

My first Sailor was the 1911M (EF) and it is fantastic - the nib is exceptional. I also recently picked up a Sailor Chalana and a sweet NOS Sailor Mini, both with perfect F nibs.

So, I placed my order for a Sapporo EF and a Sapporo Mini EF just the other day! I can hardly wait. smile.gif

Congrats on the new pen. I am at a place in my collecting where I have to admit I can't own one of everything. Hence, I have but one Sailor, a 1911. It is an excellent pen. If other Sailors are as nice as the one I have, I would say you almost can't go wrong with that brand. But, it is personal. If you like the pen, then it is a good buy. I hope you continue to enjoy it.

So the Charleston is discontinued? I didn't know that.
