hi! i have an Inoxcrom Agatha Ruiz De La Prada Stripes Fountain Pen and an Inoxcrom Jordi Labanda Fountain Pen. i've been using the Inoxcrom Agatha because I find its size just right to tuck into my bag. Ever since I stumbled into this thread and this site, I was motivated to add 'fancier' mini fountain pens to my 'collection'.

At first, the only mini FP I knew was the Montblanc Meisterstruck Mozart and wanted to get the platinum trim with medium 14k gold nib. I would have to order this online since this is not carried by the Montblanc store in Manila. However, the US online seller informed me that Montblanc can only ship within the US. Since I wasn't sure if the pen will be covered by Montblanc's warranty even in Manila if I still purchase it from the US, I put buying this pen on hold.

So I ordered the other pens of my choice:
- Caran D'Ache Ecridor Retro Mini with fine rhodium-plated steel nib
- Pelikan M300 Green Black with broad 14k gold nib

i'm also looking for a clear mini demonstrator and here are my choices:
- Visconti Van Gogh Mini Crystal with Rhodium Plated Solid 14k Nib or 14k white gold nib
- SAILOR 1911 MID SIZE with flexible 14k gold nib
- Kaweco Sport Classic Clear Demonstrator with gold-tone steel medium nib

i was leaning towards the Sailor but read in one site that it does not use standard international cartridges. i was hoping that i can use Pelikan cartridges since i ordered these (in 4 different colors to try) for the Caran D'Ache and Inoxcrom pens.

Any advice or comments on my choice of pens?

Do converters for full size FPs fit the mini versions?

The Kaweco fountain pens that I have tried are excellent and very inexpensive. There is aso a very nice pocket-sized fountain pen from Rebecca Moss in chrome. I believe that R Moss has a website for their New York store, and the Japanese stationary shop, Kinokuniya, also carries her products. Of course, the Tasche from the Ohto company in Japan is all the rage with pocket-founatin pen enthusiasts, and these can be ordered very cheaply from Jetpens.com.

In regard to the Demonstrators:

- The Sailor 1911M is about 1cm longer than the Visconti, and is more of a regular-sized pen. It takes a cartridge or converter, but the cartridges are proprietary - your Pelikan (international size) cartridges won't fit.

- The Visconti takes international size cartridges.

The Sailor would come with a converter, while the Visconti is cartridge-only, but there are generic converters available which would fit the Crystal Mini.

Do a search on **that** auction 'site under "Dinkie" by Conway Stewart. I own one. It is four inches long capped, approximately 3 1/2 inches long uncapped, and about 4.75 inches long when posted. It is a nice writer. Although not used that frequently by me (man-sized hands). I will slip it into my planner occasionally to take it for a spin for a day or two.

My best,

I use the Kaweco Sport set (blue, GP M nib, in the poly case) as my jeans carry pen/pencil set. Love'em.

Have a Moore ringtop I gotta rehab one of these days and a Conklin Crescent Filler ringtop that, with the Kaweco, are the only pens I routinely post.

There, been nice to all people at all times.

I dip-tested a Caran d'Ache Ecridor fountain in a pen store a few months ago, and it wrote beautifully. On the Pendemonium website, they list Caran d'Ache FPs as able to accept the short international cartridges, but I don't know if this applies to a mini FP or not. I image it would, though. Enjoy your new pens! tongue.gif

I don't know if this applies to a mini FP or not.

It certainly applies to the Ecridor. I have one and it is a lovely pen although to write with. The only point I do have is that the rhodium plating is missing in tiny bits towards the top of the pen. I took it back for replacement, but it turned out that all the ones the shop had had the same problem. But it is a nice writer nevertheless, and it takes international cartridges quite happily.

On the subject of Mini FPs, the Montegrappa Reminiscence is a lovely pen too. Although it took a bit of getting going, it is now one of my smoothest writers. International cartridges only.

Don't let the fact that Sailor doesn't take International Cartridges discourage you from using them. Luckily for you, Sailors usually come with converters (a cartridge-like mechanism with a piston at the back which you use to refill pens from a bottle wink.gif ). I see this as an advantage over cartridge-only pens. wink.gif

I also own two Inoxcrom fountain pens. One is a Zepellin, which has the same nib as your Jordi Labanda, and the other is a Wallstreet Elegance. I fitted them both with a generic international converter and use them on a daily basis biggrin.gif Inoxcroms are great, inexpensive pens - often understated.

If you would like mini-sized converters to fit in mini pens that take international cartridges, I believe Tryphon Enterprises sell mini converters for them (no affili. - just friendly advice smile.gif ). (Find Tryphon on Google, and click on "“Bantam” Ink Converter" on his catalogue)

Good luck in your search for mini pens. I think they're very cute.

For $15 you can get the Pilot Birdie at Cult Pens. It is very soft and very enjoyable.

Watch out for shipping expenses, though!

This is _the_ mini FP! I got one in Toronto for $17 in a fine nib, which writes like a surgical instrument!

Also, the Aurora Talentum Finesse.

How about the new Sailor Sapporo Mini? Only takes cartridges though on account of its foreshortened size. They would be available in Manila from those stores dealing in Japanese fountain pens. The new pen usually includes a couple of cartridges which you can later refill with a syringe.
