Does anyone know of a good quality, yet affordable leather padfolio? I am looking for something that would hold a regular legal pad, but don't want all those bells and whistles like calculators, clear sleeves... Oh and of course, at a bargain.
Also if you want to sell me yours, PM me.
Any thoughts?

Did you have a sense of what you wanted to spend?

I bought my sister a Tyler Folio from Levenger as a college graduation present. It is not cheap at $128, but I found it well priced for the quality. I believe it will last her entire career. It doesn't have any extraneous junk.

I've also found that Levenger will often have sales on leather goods, I think maybe when the color is a little off of the rest of their line. I've found good bargains by just hitting their Sale page every week or two. For example, at the moment they have a good looking leather "Ravenna" folio (smaller size, though) for $50.

Thanks for the input, I am hoping for a bit less than that, maybe in the $30-40 range. I know that is inexpensive, but I wondered if people have them laying around without being used. I looked at the Levenger site and although the Ravena looks nice, I think it would be too small. I am looking for a legal pad size.
Thanks again.

I saw some for that price at Borders. It was black leather and had Paperchase as the brand. It zipped up and was legal pad size.

If you've got a Wilson's Leather (or a Wilson's outlet), you might check there. The leather quality probably isn't always Levenger-esque, but there's definitely bargains to be had if you play your cards right. I bought a very nice Kenneth Cole leather padfolio there a couple of years ago and it has held up very nicely. For $30, it was a monster of a deal. Black, pockets, no frills, just nice pebbled leather. I'll snap a pic later and post if I get a chance.

I picked up a Franklin Covey Leadership padfolio for $45 at Office Depot. Has magentic snap closure. I got it because I can actually fit that ugly A4 sized Black and Red spiral notebook in there and look more professional. http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?level=...Ntk=all&An=text

If you mean legal as in 8.5x 14 I don't think this will fit though and not sure they sell anything that size, but you can hunt around.

I reco hunting the Bay!

Check the Daytimers web site clearance and closeout section. They generally have pretty good prices when they want to move stuff out.

Leather and Vinyl Direct is a good source. They sell all sorts of folios, journal covers (and the inners are included, extras available) at very reasonable prices.

I purchased a jotter (3 x 5) case and journal from them a while ago. The prices were competitive, the workmanship superior and the materials used were top grade. Delivery is very prompt.

You can't go wrong at their prices either.

As always, standard disclaimer, not this, not that, not me, not them, not connected, not getting 'nothing'. rolleyes.gif

Except, I've got some of their products, have given them to others, and all are doing very well, thank you. smile.gif

Hint for hunting pad covers: look for places that do the custom corporate gifts. They often have "extras" from large runs, or sell the non-personalized blanks at reasonable prices. I learned this after finding gifts for groups that were fairly small, where I also didn't have a large budget for the process.
