The Vergé de France note pad for correspondance and matching envelope are great. I got the Ivory color, but the paper come in 11 different colors.
It's my luxury paper and it's extremely fountain pen friendly.
http://www.g-lalo.comI hope you can try it.

I have also used the Verg`e de France stationery & I like it a lot. It is a bit textured...I only had problems with some of my cheap Scheaffer calligraphy pens (F nib), "catching" on the texture. The other fountain pens have done just fine on the paper. Its a "laid" texture, if that helps.
edited to try & add that little accent thingy to the "e" , but being keyboard challenged I can't do it. That's ONE reason why I like FPs better--much easier to add special "marks" & other punctuation

Vergé de France is very nice. Not my favorite as the "laid" texture is a little more pronounced than I like. I tend to prefer the ultra smoothness of Clairefontaine. I also have a hard time seeing line guides through it. But it is perfectly FP friendly and quite luxurious.
A verge de France, by the way (without the accent, that is), is (hmm, trying to be family-friendly here) a masculine appendage from France.

I finally made it down to the local (12 miles away!)paper shoppe carrying G.Lalo papers.
The paper is nice to the touch and in it's use.But the price just keeps me from buying it.
For 50 sheets i would be paying over $12.Thats too steep when i can go to another local paper supply house and buy a ream of almond/cream 32# to 60# writing paper for less than $10.
So unless i can find a better deal on this brand,i will be sticking with domestic paper for correspondance material.
Thanks for the information above though. It always helps.

Try Pendemonium for the 50 sheet tablet for $9 US. (I don't track the exchange rate to know if it's good or bad for you).

JD: Have you looked around for "Original Crown Mill" paper? It is almost identical to G. Lalo, and should only be ~$7 for a 50-sheet A5 pad.
I did a review on it in the Paper forum. It's very nice stuff.

I do love my Lalo - all variations for correspondence, usually in lavender/mauve and ivory: tablets & deckle edged cards. I think the weight and texture are perfect. I buy it from Pendemonium. Best of luck with it, Handlebar

I just bought some G.Lalo paper at Essence du Papier in Montreal today, a tablet and envelopes....rung up at $25 CAD, I think it increased in price since the last time I bought some. But I have to admit, I like this more than Clairefontaine Triomphe for correspondence, it has the right amount of toothiness for me. On the bright side, at least G.Lalo is cheaper than GMUND paper

The Verge de France tablet and envelopes are the first real stationery I've purchased, and it's a wonderful value, considering pricier alternatives.
