Hello
I am a postgraduate from China. And I'm a pen lover. I like the pens of Parker and Pelikan. My fovarate pens are vintage pens of Parker, espacially Parker 51 series. And I also like some China-brand pens such as "Hero".
I look forward to communicate with and make friends with other people in this forum, so I introduce myself briefly in this post.
Thank you.

Ah, my own area of specialization! Welcome aboard. I pretty much only use Chinese fps, for the most part Haolilais, Dukes and Heroes!
All have given me excellent service. Well, aside from one Haolilai which seems to enjoy uncapping in my jacket pocket, that is...

I have the same experience with you: a fountain pen uncapped in my pocket and the ink dirtied my shirt. So I seldom put fps in my pocket now. Instead, I put them in my pen box.

The best part being the process involved in screening the damage from my wife, who takes a dim view of my pen collecting! I managed to concoct an elaborate cleaning bath involving tea and herbs I found on-hand, which
did take the stain out, but the jacket is now a bit...err...off its initial color. I'm trying to pass that off as the influence of the ozone layer.
Without much success...

Welcome to FPN! I have no knowledge of Chinese geography but I have a friend who lives in Shanghai. Is that a long way from you?
My sister will be visiting her soon so I'm going to "instruct" her on looking for a Chinese pen for my birthday present!
Are there shops in China selling Chinese pens? This may sound silly but when I was on holiday in Malaysia all the great stuff made there was sold in UK and US, not in Malaysia!
We are visiting HongKong in May too. Maybe find a bargain!
Wishing you many happy hours on FPN - and bargain hunting!

Welcome to FPN

If I'm not mistaken, is Qingdao the district in China where there is a vast Korean community?

Qingdao is not far from Shanghai. Both of them are coastal cities, and the distance between them is about 1000 km.It will take 17 hours from Qingdao to Shanghai by train and less than 2 hours by air.
In China, nearly all shopping malls have pen shoppe which sell Chinese pens, and the Hero Corporation is in Shanghai. As a birtheday present, I recommend Hero 100 Gold/Silver, Hero 200B and Hero 20XX series, such as 2010, 2016, 2003 or 2006, all of which are competitive products.

Yes, there is a vast Korean community in Qingdao, because tens of thousands Korean people live in Qingdao, who work or study here. And there is a Korean Consulate in Qingdao else.

Thanks for advice! I'll drop hints and send pictures and internet links (she knows nothing about pens!) and maybe I'll get something good . . .
