I'm planning on heading to the DC Supershow next Aug., and am wondering if I'll be able to find loose nibs for sale. I expect that the answer may be yes, but I'm hoping that they wouldn't cost more than the price of a beater pen on eBay, with the same nibs installed.
Thanks,
Jared

Nibs aren't cheap. I have purchased pens for nibs and found damaged nibs that didn't show in the photograph. I've gotten fairly good at guessing flex from pictures but I still am not 100% on my eBay flex-nib purchases.
At a show you get to test for flex and look at the nib with a loupe if you care.

It depends on what you consider cheap. I've bought Waterman #2 flex nibs for $35 which I think is a bargain.

You can generally find a couple of sellers with books of nibs...
Remember that the prices at pen shows are sometimes higher, but you can find good deals...
I have two sellers I generally deal with... I purchased a couple of Vacumatic nibs for $25.00 and got some 51 nibs for $15.00... but I was also purchasing a total of 6 nibs.... so deals can be had...
These same sellers also usually have a good selection of parts... you just need to know what you are looking for... they don't have the time to sort through the boxes for you unless it is totally dead.. and that rarely if ever happens.
