Ughh. I went to put my vp in my pocked, and noticed when i put the clip over my (thin) shirt, the top of the VP by the clip cracked, like a hairline, but bigger. Im so upset, because it was one of my favorite pens. It had such a smooth extra fine nib.... Oh well, i guess i can use it until i get my pelikan 200 needle point flex from Richard Binder... biggrin.gif (Just one more reason on why i need that pen 1 day sooner)
Lloyd
Send it into Namiki/Pilot service. They'll probably fix it for free.
MYU
Whoa, cracked? You mean on the barrel portion just before the chromed top of the pen?
sonia_simone
That is very sad and disappointing!

That's strange...the VP looks (almost) indestructable. I can see this possibly happening if you dropped it on a hard surface, but the clip itself is all metal. Anyone else experience these kinds of hairline cracks on Pilot Capless models?
Taki
Is the VP an older model with platic barrel?

My Stealth model broke at the cap/body joint few years ago, after a fall from a low desk to the floor. It was in two pieces. The nib was retracted and was not damaged. I fixed it myself with some epoxy, and have been using it regularly since then.
George
I never dropped it. It is the new one, i had it for only 3 months. Year, right at the chrome cap, by the clip. A crack! 1/4 in. or so.

Definitely send it back to Pilot. I'm sure they'll make it good.
Johnson
That is crazy! This is probably an extra-ordinary case, I would send the pen back to Pilot.
Richard
As a Pilot dealer, I want to echo what ohers have said. The failure you describe should never have happened, and you should send the pen to Pilot USA for replacement under warranty. The phone number is 203-381-4854.

I agree.
Three months is not very long for something like this to happen. Really, three months is not very long for anything to happen based on normal use.
