I've purchased a couple of parker 51s on the 'bay, but haven't been too happy with them (they need reparied and I haven't had the time or patience to ship them off for repair... but I will someday). I hear so many good things about the 51 and I do like my hero 100. So here's what I'm looking for:
Parker 51 aerometric with gold filled cap in a wet fine point. This pen can have some flaws, but not be obvious. The nib however must write without flaw... no skipping, always starts right up, etc. My price range is $100 or under.

P.S. - I have a very nice green snorkel valiant with a smooooth triumph nib that I might (???) be willing to work into a trade for the above. I really like this pen, but it's a bit too slender for me to use everyday.

Dean, a double jeweled Parker "51" will run much more than $100, but you can probably find an aerometric with a gold cap for $100 or less. Good luck with your search.

Thanks Ron. I wondered if it was possible to get the double jewel for <$100. I would be happy with an aerometric gold filled cap if the nib met my criteria. The most important thing to me is for it to be a trouble free writer. One that I wouldn't hesitate to use everyday and knew that it would always start right up when I pulled it out of my pocket. But I wanted a little something extra which is why I'm looking for a gold filled cap.
Thanks for the input and please keep the suggestions coming.

George,
I don't think I ever said anything about a double jewel aerometric. I was looking for a gold filled cap aerometric or a double jeweled vacumatic with a gold filled cap (which I now know I probably can't afford).
