I just got my first 2 bottles of Diamine.
I opened the boxes, and both of them seemed to have leaked (small amount but significant) thru the cap seal.
It appears the bottles have little ring seal at the top. Has anyone else had similar problems? am concerned it may result in ink drying out (and let's not even talk about the mess when I opened the boxes and handled the bottles).
thx

In the last few days I've received three bottles of Diamine - two from an ink merchant and one from an individual - with no leakage problems. A small sample, but there it is. FWIW, I like the bottle design; hopefully sealing will not be a problem.

no sealing problems on mine as yet. I've got about 6 Diamine bottles.

No problems with mine here in UK but it travelled everywhere in my car, no postal services involved! It is an English ink, isn't it? I know little about it but I like the colour I bought (Emerald). If so, it travelled from manufacture to shop to me all by road, so unlikely to have mishaps.

I have just the one bottle, I've had no mishaps.

I have about 10 bottles of Diamine, and one of them was shipped from UK but none has leaked.

I have, or have had, 12 bottles of Diamine and have never had any problems with leaking on either the old or new style caps. My bottle of Prussian Blue is always carried loose in my work bag, so regularly gets tipped upside down and has never shown any signs of leaking.

well, good news is that it sounds like an isolated incident
I can't explain why both bottles, though.

I suppose it's possible with the very odd weather we've had this year that at some point in their journey they went through an extreme temperature change and the seller did not (as I would not expect) check the lids before packaging. When I ship (bottles I trade or whatever) I try to always check and recheck the seal but still have had bottles get to Canada with a leak. Or in one case, having frozen solid.

Loose ink bottle caps are actually quite rare. As you might imagine we ship thousands of bottles of ink every year and since 2000 when we started we've had, I think, only 2 loose caps causing a leak. I can imagine temperature changes not helping matters but it's still not a great problem. However, I recommend anyone buying bottled ink mail order to not open the package over their best carpet just in case!

I have been using Diamine ink for some years and have received several shipments by post. I have never experienced a leakage problem. Looks like a bad one-off experience.

Well, I have bought a few of those from Martin, and they all arrived perfectly sealed with no leaks (thanks!).
But, slightly to one side, after opening the bottles (and other makes too) the carboard seal sometimes comes out of the cap. Unless you are a little careful, it could decide to go for a spin across the desk, the carpet, your finest silk shirt etc.
And it needs to go back in its rightful place to avoid drying out or possible leaks later.

I never saw this topic before but I currently have 6 bottles of Diamine (2 boxes have never been opened) but I do have 2 boxes that look like the photo in the opening post and each bottle inside has a dried dribble of ink running down it. I can't say for sure if the ink was there when I first opened the boxes, after I noticed the spillage, I always assumed I made the mess when filling but never really knew. I am quite careful when I fill and can't believe I would put a messy bottle back in the carton. Hmm, I'll watch it for sure now.

My only Diamine leakage was clearly caused by customs officers checking the content and not closing the bottle properly afterwards. Their fingerprints were all over one package. I had to order Tropical Blue LE from the US and the curious guys got blue hands.

Several years ago I ordered a bottle of Parker Penman Sapphire from Levengers and it arrived having leaked 1/3 of the bottle in the box and over the other things in my order. I contacted Levenger and they sent me a new bottle and replaced the items that were damaged. I offerred to send the othe old bottle and damaged goods back to them (including a fairly expensive leather item) but they declined.
I wound up with 1+2/3 bottle of Penman Sapphire and doubles on some other items (not pens, alas). Some of the other materials cleaned nicely but I just had to live with the "decorated" leather-bound journal.
The box was shipped by truck from Florida to Texas, so freezing weather was not a factor. Customs neither. Sometimes stuff happens.

Well, to prevent staining if "stuff happens", Pendemonium tends to put all of the ink boxes inside plastic bags. Those
are then held in position with bubble wrap. No leakages yet, so I'm a satisfied customer.

Could be a cracked cap. Earlier this year, I was buying some Green Quink in a store, and noticed some leakage on the box. I opened the box, and found out the cap was cracked on the side. The clerk gave me the ink for free.
