Wowwww.......The latest bird to join the flock has just flown in. I am, of course, referring to the delicious 'white' Pelikan 400 kindly offered by James of Pear Tree Pens.
I am very undecided what colour ink to introduce my new bird to. This regal colour combination certainly demands something special. Perhaps Imperial purple because the appearance of this pen reminds me of decorative Roman columns. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
Any suggestions from other new owners?

I really loved PR Orange Crush in mine.

Judging by the color of the tortoise insert, I'd think that Mont Blanc British Racing Green might complement it nicely. Send me a back channel message if you'd like some scans of it (or if you'd like a smidge to sample).

My 1950s Tortoise 400 has Visconti Brown/Sepia in it and it's a great match, imho.

mine white bird has Diamine Umber - a lovely soft grey green that, IMO, is perfect for the greens in the tortoise colors.
But a nice golden brown would work well also.
And MB Racing green looks quite fetching.

Sailors Soft Brown or Noodlers Everlasting Brown are nice golden browns in this pen. I tend to alternate between the two.

I had settled on Noodler's Golden Brown as the all-time ideal color for this pen, and then I got seduced into considering R&K Alt Goldgrun. Since my bottle of Golden Brown has shifted in color (probably due to something rotten I did to it, I am very bad), I think I will try it out.

Currently I have J. Herbin Poussiere de Lune in my White Tortoise, but R&K Alt Goldgrun sounds wonderful!
