hello, i'm looking for my "best" fountain pen and i have a budget from 200euro and 300 euro.

After some internet researches i've found two fountain pens at my reseller:
Montblanc 145 Chopin (270Euro) and Pelikan m620 Chicago (220euro).

I want a daily use pen and i'm dubious because the mb is very classic but the
Chicago look very attractive and confortable for my hands.

Someome may give me some tips ?

thanks

Are you happy with they way they both write....? If so, and the Pelikan is more comfortable, get the Pelikan.

I am a Pelikan fan but my suggestion has nothing to do with my preferences. If it is not comfortable you will grow to dislike it. Looks aren’t everything when it comes to long or even short periods of writing.

And with the money saved you could have the nib customized. smile.gif

Welcome and enjoy your stay. biggrin.gif

think about the writing behaviour of the MB and Pelikan?
thank you

In my opinion. smile.gif

I have used many Pelikans and only one MB.

There is no question about the Pelikan being very comfortable in my hand, it lays well and is a no effort writer. The nib stays wet and is very smooth. The ink flows as I like it and has no starting problems. I keep three M800s in my rotation and one is always with me on trips.

I do not remember why, but the particular MB I tested did not appeal to me. That is not to say that no MBs would appeal to me, just the one I tried. So, someone else will have to chime in with a comparison of Pelikan vs. MB to be fair.

All I am saying is to keep in mind when you buy a FP, no matter the maker, make sure it is comfortable to use and it is an easy writer.

You are asking this in the Pelikan forum, what response did you think you would get? tongue.gif

I own one Montblanc, a 146, and 3 Pelikans, an m200 with F nib, another m200 with a Binder 0.6mm stub, and a Pelikan m800 with M nib. Since the M800 is in roughly the same class as the 146, I often find myself comparing the two. I prefer the M800, though the 146 is also an excellent pen. The M800 is just a bit wetter and smoother, the 146 is drier by comparison. The 146 has a very pleasing shape and feels great in my hand, but something about the starkly cylindrical shape of the M800 makes me happy.
