Full Version: Lamy Safari Nib Slit

Something's been nagging me about a Lamy Safari I purchased a couple months ago. It catches on circular motions fairly consistently.

I spent some time with a brown paper bag trying to smooth it, but that didn't help. But upon inspecting the nib with a loupe, I noticed a couple of things that might be odd.

1) Looking straight down onto the face of the nib, the slit doesn't split the tip symmetrically. It's slightly off-center;

2) Looking at the tip straight-on, I noticed that the slit is cut slightly diagonally across the tip.

My gut tells me that this is a defect, but I'm wondering if what I'm seeing is meant to be due to the grooves on the section that may cause a writer to hold the pen at an odd angle...

So... design or defect?

Or maybe I'm thinking about this too much and should just send the thing to Lamy...

Any insight is greatly appreciated.
