Hello, everbody. I've found a Waterman Carene Silver Collection Amethyst Bronze for sale on Fountain Pen Hospital. But there are no any meanings about such a collection on Waterman web-site... Perhaps it was discontinued some time ago? Thanks in advance for your answers smile.gif.

Hi,

On the Waterman site hold your mouse cursor over the heading "style", then select "Carene" when the list of models comes up. Then select "Carene Deluxe" and a list of finishes will come up oon the upper right. Carene "Silver Meridian" will be the top finish listed. A very nice pen !!!!
AlexeyTarasov
MVO, yes, I've seen this finish. But Fountain Pen Hospital offers Amethyst Bronze, not just the "Silver Meridian".

By the way, do you own this pen?
MVO
Alexey,

I do not own this pen. I have the Carene Deluxe in Prussian Blue (fine point). I love the pen. I believe the pen you are looking at was offered in FPH's catalog last year as a Carene Deluxe model (not silver collection) the same caategory as my Prussian Blue model. I just received the pen this week and so far I just love it. It writes very smooth and looks stunning. I am not sure where the term Silver Collection comes from. I see "Carene Collection", "Carene Deluxe", and "Carene Silver". No "Silver Collection" either in Waterman's literature or FPH's Catalog.

Right now I'm thinking to buy this pen too smile.gif. I believe yours is with golden rodium plated nib?

The CARENE DELUXE AMETHYST BRONZE, is now discontinued.

It was not available worldwide but only on USA and some others countries.
MVO
Alexey,

Yes, my Carene has a gold plated nib. The nib says 18K on it. The pen is beautiful although I have heard that some think it looks a little gaudy. i would like to see the amethyst in my hand as the computer colors are only as good as the monitors calibration. If you get the Carene let me know what you think of it.
AlexeyTarasov
Sorry, guys, I've decided to get Parker Ellipse instead smile.gif. But if I ever go to Waterman, I'll choose Carene without any doubt.

I have just purchased a Carene Deluxe Amethyst Bronze on eBay. It is being shipped to Australia from the US so I must wait a week or so. I can't wait....so I am spending every free minute on here reading up on fountain pens.
I had a cheap and leaky Sheaffer cartridge FP in high school and had a lot of fun with it, not to mention a lot of black or blue fingers.
I am already looking to expand my collection and are bidding on some Phileas so as to use them with different coloured inks. I think that I am hooked.

Great pen. I am sure that you will love using it!

Yeah. Did I say that I can't wait. wink.gif
I will definately post when it arrives. I will probably have many questions as well. At the moment I am wondering about the best way to fill it. I want to use a converter with bottled ink....but I am wondering how messy things would be to dip the nib into the ink bottle to fill it. I have read about someone filling via the converter and not the nib, presumably to avoid the mess, but maybe also to avoid hitting the nib on the bottom of the bottle??? But I also wonder that if I fill the converter directly whether removing it numerous times will loosen it and therefore make leakage more likely?

I usually fill the converter outside of the section, then push a drop or two of ink through the nib by turning the converter after putting it in place.

Thanks for that. It does seem like the less messy method.
